Why Amberg during Advent?

Amberg Christmas market: Between the town hall and St. Martin’s Basilica, the market square is transformed into an atmospheric Christmas village. 2025 is the market from 27.11. until 23.12. open – with live stage, culinary delights and arts and crafts. Opening hours: Mon-Wed 10-20 hrs, Thu-Sat 10-21 hrs, Sun 13-20 hrs. Carriage rides are a traditional part of the event (Thu-Sun, in the afternoon; start times according to the organizer).

Forestry Christmas market on Mariahilfberg: A regional highlight above the city – rustic, handmade, with a forest and hunting theme. 2025 will take place on Fri., Dec. 5 (from 11 a.m.) and Sat., Dec. 6 (until 6 p.m.).

Other Advent tips in the area: In Sulzbach-Rosenberg, the Rosenberg Nativity Scene Trail invites you to look and marvel from the first Advent until January 6 – perfect for a short excursion.

Then it’s just a few minutes to the Amberg Christmas market: stroll around the market square, discover crafts and enjoy live music. If you like, you can plan a carriage ride (depending on the day’s program; signposted at the market).

Day 2 – Advent flair & excursion
After the breakfast buffet, we recommend an excursion to the Forest Christmas Market on Mariahilfberg (5-6. 12. 2025) – woodsy and cozy, with special gifts and a fantastic view of the city. Back in the old town, your Advent menu awaits you in the evening.

Day 3 – Farewell with pleasure
Enjoy another leisurely breakfast, take a last detour through the market or – depending on the date – visit a station on the crib trail in the surrounding area. Then it’s time to go home with lots of bright moments in your luggage.
