Postilion and butcher, Christoph Bayerschmid, opens the first imperial post station at Ziegelgasse 8. It was used as an important hub for mail traffic to and from Prague.

The White baker Christoph Rockhinger starts his work at Ziegelgasse 6. This marks the very beginning of the baking tradition on the premesis.

The plague is also raging in Ziegelgasse. As a result, most of the houses stand empty and they change owners frequently.

Regina Wirth purchased the property, which during that time also included hop gardens and various outbuildings. Batteriegasse 1-3 were also part of the property.

Her husband Michael Wirth, also known as the "Teufelsbäck" begins his craft. His quick temper and a case of mistaken identity involving a billy goat led to his legendary nickname.

The property was taken over by Georg Lehner for a short time. In the same year Master Baker Ignatz Hauer, son of the "Teufelsbäck", takes over the business.

Parts of the property at Batteriegasse 3 are being sold. Today, the Hotel Brunner and Atelier Teufelsbäck are located here.

A photo of the loading crane at the back of the building was taken this year. The bay window of the crane can still be seen on the building today.

Historical photographs show the former restaurant “Zum Teufelsbäck.” At that time, the entrance was still located on Ziegelgasse.

The historic restaurant building is being demolished. Architect Edwin Gräf begins construction of the new hotel on the Erras-Brunner estate.

The topping-out ceremony for the modern Hotel Brunner is being celebrated. Given its modern standards, the press will refer to the project as the “Kempinski of Amberg.”

The Brunner family officially opens the hotel. It features 42 rooms with amenities that were considered luxurious at the time, such as telephones, showers, and painted cabinet doors.

Wolfgang Litten runs the “Bacchus Klause” in the space that is now the Atelier. Over the years, the wine bar has become a popular gathering place for socializing.

The Schatz family acquires the Hotel Brunner. Extensive renovations follow to combine the hotel's charm with modern amenities.

Local historian Hans Hummel has written an essay on the history of the property. To this day, this text serves as a reliable historical source for the house.

Ute Schatz draws inspiration from the artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Since then, so-called “tree tenants”—such as maple and chestnut trees—have been growing on the hotel balconies.

The Hotel Brunner is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a grand celebration. At the same time, all rooms and bathrooms are being renovated.

The hotel’s distinctive blue lettering is being installed. Together with Marcus Trepesch, the “Kunst im Hotel” concept is being launched, in which rooms are individually designed.

Konstantin Schatz takes over the Batteriegasse 1 location and, following renovations, opens the “Atelier Teufelsbäck.” The “Amirage” glass mosaic is being ceremoniously revealed.

The coronavirus pandemic has led to closures in the tourism sector. Atelier Teufelsbäck is responding with creative delivery services and launching the “Teufelsbäck LIVE” concert series in its patio, while Hotel Brunner is struggling to cope with the restrictions.

Almost all of the rooms at Hotel Brunner have now been decorated by local artists and offer a unique lodging experience.
