About this offer
Travel back to Amberg in 1474
From 7 to 9 August 2026, the square in front of the historic Vilstor gate and Amberg’s old city moat will be transformed into an impressive medieval festival setting. The 13th Amberg Brunnenfest (opens an external page) commemorates the magnificent Amberg Wedding of 1474, when Prince Elector Philipp of the Palatinate married Margarete of Bavaria-Landshut.
More than 500 performers will bring this remarkable chapter of Amberg’s history back to life. Over 50 merchants, craftspeople and entertainers will be joined by historical encampments, knights, musicians, jesters and fire performers. Visitors can look forward to a colourful medieval market, historical demonstrations and the grand festive procession through Amberg’s old town.
After an eventful day surrounded by medieval characters, traditional crafts and living history, Hotel Brunner offers a welcoming place to relax. Our family-run hotel enjoys a central location beside Amberg’s historic old town.
